At the break of dawn she gets to harvest the flowers of her labour. With haste she walks down to the field and pauses at the gate. She listens to the world waking up around her and her breath. She feels like she's the only one awake and is witnessing the very secret of the world. 'Wow what a beautiful day this is going to be' She looks over the flower beds and feels proud of all the tender loving care she gave those sown seeds. And gratitude, oh so much gratitude for the life giving magic of Mother Earth.
For precision & respect of the plants before her, only the best pair of secateurs will do the job of harvesting the blooms. 'Snip' and in the water the pom pom dahlia goes. 'Snip' 'Snip' and in the bucket the echinacea goes. As the blue sky turns brighter, the buckets become full of colour, scent and the most ridiculously beautiful textures of flowers and foliage.
"And they say 'labour of love' like it's a bad thing?" ~ Oh when this is right where I want be.
