Day 21/30 of #30daysoffloristconfessions
I saw the best and the worst of people while working in this flower shop. From someone sending flowers to cheer up a friend to this bitch running in & throwing a wilted rose on the counter, bursting with rage.
I remember holding on to the counter to stop my hand from shaking. She ranted until she got what she wanted, a free rose to put back into her 2 dozen bouquet and the instructions repeated ‘cut the stem on an angle and put back into water immediately!’
*** the rose she almost killed for... hadn’t been cut at all 🙄
She was a regular customer, one that I couldn’t stand. I couldn’t get passed how she could have so much abundance and not behave like she had an ounce of gratitude.
Anyway, she came back in a week or so later and was talking to Stephen. ‘Yes you know I like what I like, and I like to have it my way so...’ All while staring me down.
I thought ‘is that your version of an apology?!…Get fucked!’
And after that I found out she was going through a divorce. So maybe she was having a terrible day. But still I refused to ever serve or even make eye contact with her again.
I’ve wondered should I have been more forgiving? Should I have been more professional and let it slide? I don’t know. I know I’ve taken out my problems on others before, obviously I’m not perfect but I found her behaviour unforgivable, unforgettable and her apology lacking any measure of empathy.
Would you have let it go?
